After you develop bad habits, trying to get rid of them is much more difficult than if you'd spent more time and effort at the beginning making sure the basics were solid.
Another thing I do that I wish I'd done earlier is keep a technique list that is as complete as possible, and make sure I review everything regularly. I learned some forms and things early in my MA career that are totally gone now because I wasn't being good enough about regularly reviewing old material.
I also started keeping a training blog in September, and that is proving to be a very helpful exercise.
