I'm a big Rocky fan myself. Yeah I agree that he should have done this years ago, but I think the timing is good as we need something like this movie in the world right now. I saw the trailer on Saturday when I saw Casino Royale. Along with Rocky Balboa there were a couple of other movies that were along the same lines, inspirational, so that is good.

I think this movie will be good. The idea behind it seems feaseable and he acknowledges the fact that the character is so old that the possibility of winning is slim to none, but like the first one, the idea is to just compete and be shown the respect that he deserves.

I'll be the first in line for this one.

I'm really looking forward to this movie too. I love all of the Rocky films. You can't help but get pumped up when you see Rocky training and you hear the music. It's pretty awesome.

I always thought that Stallone should have produced some workout tapes or something. Not that he needs the money or anything but he would have cashed in on something like that.

Over the past few years I really think that boxing has lost its popularity. The UFC certainly has helped this along. But Stallone has pretty much single handedly given boxing a second chance with his show "The Contender" and now this movie. Ultimately, I think that boxing will loose to MMA but you've got to give Stallone some credit for keeping it alive. That's pretty awesome.

Anyway, I'll be right there with you guys on opening night!

Here is an interview and feature with Sly from Access Hollywood ... amazing to think it's 30 years since the original Rocky

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9Vw1IVk_ik

And here is the classic training montage from Rocky IV, which juxtaposed Ivan Drago in the Russian high tech labs and Rocky out in the winter wilderness
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7Kg_w-0y_w
The training sequences were always an integral part of the Rocky movies, and in that way, they were similiar to the old school kung fu movies -- one of the facets of Shaw Brothers flicks was always the long training before the final fight.

I'm with the rest of you -- I'll be there opening day as well -- even if it gets panned by the critics, I'm really curious to see what Sly will come up with and what kind of shape he'll be in.

They say the theme of the movie is the idea of a generation of people that are what most say "Past their prime". Most feel useless at this age and not very valuable to society. Sly is trying to use this angle to tell people that they are valuable and can contribute even in old age. He certainly knows how to bring about social issues now doesn't he. But most of this is from his first hand experience. Each of the Rocky's theme's are paralelled in Stallone's life. This one is very close to the first one, but with a different theme..

That's why I love the Rocky movies. Sure, the training montages and the jokes are great, but it's basically a feel good movie that isn't a "feel good movie". They say that anyone can do it, but you've gotta be willing to work harder then you ever have, face your fears dead in the face, and still face the real possibility of loss, despite all the work.

This will no doubt be one of the top 5 worst movies of the year.

How would you know, have you already seen it? Comments like this are exactly the typical response of the general society. The general society rather see Hostel or Saw III, than a movie that at the least represents something positive. Unfortunately it's the way society is today.

Whether or not it is a sleeper or total flop, Sly has inspired more people than you could even dream about, so who are you to even say how the movie will be accepted by the general public before it's release, lol.

You gotta love it when a never was judges a has been, even before the case has been tried.....
