Kudos, on your promotion; I had the pleasure of meeting your shigong years ago…

The Shuai Chiao ranking system is made up of "TENG's" or levels, 1 thru 9. The highest level is 1st Teng which is held by Dr. Weng (The leader of the association). 9th Teng is like the 1st degree Black Belt and 8th Teng is 2nd degree etc etc.
To get your fist degree Black you need to be able to recite the Shuai Chiao poem and with correct phonics. There are 6 lines (stanza's) of 5 characters. Each character represents a theory of Shuai Chiao:
THE POEM OF SHUAI CHIAO
1st Stanza: Hsi / Lou / Kuo / Pan / Hsiao
2nd Stanza: Tun / Tiao / Mo / Hung / Yao
3rd Stanza: Peng / Chuan / Nien / Pai / La
4th Stanza: Chuan / Chao / Shuai / Chuang / Pa
5th Stanza: Szu / Chien / Tan / Chin / Hua
6th Stanza: Tou / Ta / Sa / Tui / Na
For 1st degree after you receit the poem you demonstrate a throw from each 1st 5 characters. It does not matter which way or which throw as long as you can successfully demonstrate the theory properly. I don't have my english translations of all the characters here... I will post them when I get to the school.
Here is the first 5:
Hsi = to absorb, to suck in
Lou = Dragging or scooping
Kuo = Hooking, inner Hooking (one of the 4 Blades of SC)
Pan = Mixing, countering, combining techniques
Hsiao = Shaving, to scrape with a razor (one of the 4 Blades of SC)
ginosifu
Hsi / Xi / 吸 = to absorb, to suck in, to neutralize
Lou / Lou / 摟 = Dragging or scooping as to embrace while a double leg pick up
Kuo / Guo / 鉤 = Hooking, Inner Hooking (one of the 4 Blades of SC)
Pan / Ban / 拌 = Mixing, countering, combining techniques
Hsiao / Xiao / 削 = Shaving, to scrape with a razor (one of the 4 Blades of SC)
YouKnowWho,
I am not at my desk with all my translations, can you add to what I have already put here;

Thanks everyone. It's been a long time coming. Me and my teacher (John Ervin) should be higher ranks, but we are not really into all that rank jazz. I think that Dr. Weng keeps pushing us to test cuz we have been at this for a long time without testing as much as we should be. My teacher especially, he trained with Grand Master and Dr. Weng when they were here back in the early 80's. Me, I have only been training in SC since the early 90's.
