We would like to welcome you to the 1st Wushu Nandu Championship, which will be organized as a Showcase Division of the 8th Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championship in San Jose, California. As former competitors we realize the importance of having an organized and well-staged event that features the highest standards and attracts the top tier of Wushu athletes in the country. We will be using the “2005 IWUF Rules for International Wushu Taolu Competition” – available for download here, plus nationally and internationally certified judges. DATE & PLACE

The 1st Wushu Nandu Championship will be on Saturday May 21st, 2016 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center (South Hall), 435 South Market Street, San Jose, CA 95113.

  • NA310F Wushu Nandu 17 and under Advanced Female
  • NA310M Wushu Nandu 17 and under Advanced Male
  • NB310F Wushu Nandu 18+ Advanced Female
   • NA310M Wushu Nandu 18+ Advanced Male

 


COMPETITION EVENTS

  • Optional Bare Hand Routines: Changquan, Nanquan, Taijiquan.
  • Optional Short Weapon Routine: Daoshu, Jianshu, Nandao, Taijijian.


COMPETITION METHODS

  • Athletes will compete with ONE Bare Hand Routine (Changquan, Nanquan, or Taijiquan) and ONE Short Weapon Routine (Daoshu, Jianshu, Nandao, or Taijijjian) for a combined total score.
  • Unless otherwise stated within these regulations, these divisions will implement the 2005 IWUF “Scoring Method and Criteria for Degree of Difficulty of Movements of Optional Routines”.
  • Athletes may choose to register and perform grade A and/or B degree of difficulty techniques within their routines. If they choose to register and perform grade C degree of difficulty techniques, the value awarded for these will be those of the B degree of difficulty.
  • Athletes may register and perform a degree of difficulty jumping technique of the same grade at most two (2) times, however in such cases the degree of difficulty connection technique for these jumps may not be repeated within a single routine.
  • Accompanying music is required for Taijiquan and Taijijian routines. A 0.2 point deduction will apply if there is no accompanying music. Music with vocals and lyrics is not permitted.


COSTUMES & EQUIPMENT

Competitors must wear Wushu competition costumes and use Wushu competition weapons as stipulated in the IWUF rules.


REGISTRATION AND FEES

  • This is a pre-registration tournament only. Online registration website is available here. Registrations must be turned in no later than May 11th, 2016.
  • Competitors must complete their Nandu Sheets, one per event, and submit them by email to nandu.division@gmail.com no later than May 11th, 2016. Competitors must use the PDF template available here.
  • The pricing for this division per competitor is as follows: $70 if submitted before Mar 31st, $75 before Apr 29th, and $80 before May 11th.


PLACING & AWARDS

  • A combined total score (Bare Hand + Short Weapon) will determine the Wushu Nandu Champion of each division.
  • Winners will be awarded with a custom trophy and will be showcased in Kung Fu Tai Chi magazine throughout the following year. In addition, winners of the adult divisions will earn a Claw Cash prize equivalent of $200 towards purchases on TigerClaw.com.
  • As a Showcase Division, the Wushu Nandu Championship is independent of the Modern Wushu Divisions of the Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championship and will have no effect upon the Modern Wushu Grand Champions.
