    Absolutely clueless

I know absolutely nothing aside from the very basics concerning Chinese medicine. Can anyone recomend a good book which covers the elementary aspects of the whole wide subject? Thanks.

    Hey, dat's a cool site!

Say, I heard something about the particular orange color that Shaolin monks wear that's supposed to attract a particular auric energy or something. Is that why their uniforms are that color - was it intentional? Anyone ever heard of this?

Also, does anyone (Lyle?) here know if Shi Yan Ming lifts weights? Or what his workout program entails? I'm curious cuz he looks pretty ripped and buff from those pics - but pumping iron is not a traditional part of kung-fu training.

I would have to say read Ted Kaptchuck's "The Web that has no Weaver". It will cover a broad area of Chinese Medicine and will take you through to getting a glimpse of all areas. Plus the language he uses is user friendly.

Shaolin monks did use weights, just not the way modern gyms use weights. Traditionally, stone weights were used in specific exercises, as well as steel weights and rings.

The aim of using the weights was not to build a beautiful body though :)
