    They don't care about ethnicity...

    ...and all the overweight people probably take clown roles. They don't solicit me for clowns. Too bad, eh? I think I have more access to clowns than martial artists, at least around here...

    Cirque Du Soleil Casting @ DMAF & Tiger Claw Elite Championships

    We are please to announce that a delegation of two acrobatic scouts from the Cirque du Soleil Casting team will be present at this year's event. The purpose of their visit is to promote the opportunities offered by Cirque du Soleil to the martial arts community. The goal of their trip is not to recruit athletes partway through their careers, but to inform the martial arts community about future career perspectives at Cirque du Soleil.

    Cirque du Soleil is seeking new talent for its thirteen current productions and upcoming creations. We wish to inform you that Cirque du Soleil will be holding Martial Arts Auditions in Orlando, October 30, 2006.

    Since 1984, Cirque du Soleil has carved out a special niche for itself in the world of performing arts. Through a mix of acrobatics, circus arts, dance, theatre, music, singing and street performance, Cirque du Soleil has given life to a magical new universe. With its original music and performances, Cirque du Soleil always tries to challenge the very limits of the human body and spirit.

    Cirque du Soleil is specifically seeking athletes with a background in:

    * Peking Opera - Wushu
    * High level martial arts using weapons

    Cirque du Soleil is seeking new talent for its thirteen current productions and upcoming creations. We wish to inform you that, in 2007, Cirque du Soleil will be holding acrobatics and circus arts auditions all around the world.

    With the number of shows growing, you can easily imagine how many new artists we need to fill new roles, serve as permanent or temporary replacements, play back-up positions, etc.

    The Cirque du Soleil Casting team is specifically seeking artists in the following disciplines:
    Artistic, rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics, circus arts, trampoline, tumbling, diving, synchronized swimming, martial arts, stunts, extreme sports (BMX, rollerblading, etc.), urban acrobatic disciplines (b-boy/hip-hop, urban movement, acrobat-dancers, etc.).

    Stage combat specialists, are you ready to pursue a challenging and dynamic career in live entertainment? Your journey toward a Cirque du Soleil stage begins with an audition…

    The Cirque du Soleil Casting team is hosting an audition in New York on October 27th, 2018 for stage combat specialists.

    Additional abilities in tricking, free running, or weapon manipulation are strong assets.

    If you are 18+ years old (male or female), please prepare your virtual audition including:

    Headshot and full body shot

    Your resumé/CV containing:
    Your experience on stage, in competition, and at sponsored showcases or events.
    Additional disciplines you may be familiar with or have experience in.

    Video excerpts of the following elements:
    A video introduction where you state your name, background, specialty and your reasons for wanting to join Cirque du Soleil.
    A recent video of your stage combat skills and other requested disciplines you may be familiar with, ex. tricking, free running, weapon manipulation and body burns.

    Submission deadline: October 10, 2018.

    Important information:
    Once your complete application is submitted, a Talent Scout will evaluate your material.
    If you are selected to attend the live audition on October 27th, you will receive an email invitation with additional details including the address.

    Please note that:
    Cirque du Soleil will not pay for any expenses you incur by attending the audition.
    This is an audition for roles in our current shows and upcoming creations. If you successfully pass the audition, you will be considered for positions that best suit your profile and skill set.

    General terms and conditions of applying online:
    The profile information of candidates will be used by Cirque du Soleil and its partners.
    The material submitted by candidates will not be returned and may be destroyed by the Casting team.

    Note that Kung Fu Tai Chi is no longer involved with the casting process for Cirque du Soleil. Truth be told, I haven't really thought about them much recently beyond the article I did with Philip Sahagun posted above. I'd love to work with them again, but I suspect they have it handled now.

    Casting call

    They are just looking for Trickers and Wushu peeps. If you audition, ask for Phillip. And if you get cast, remember who tipped you off (all I want is some comp passes to your show).

    This December Cirque du Soleil Casting will be holding a three-day workshop style audition in Las Vegas for athletes in the following disciplines:
    Artistic Gymnastics – Trampoline – Tumbling – Rhythmic gymnastics – Diving - Acrobatic Gymnastics - Tramp-wall – Slackline – Tricking – Wushu - Acrobat Generalist – Cheerleading

    Dates: 16-18 December 2019.

    Location: one of the Cirque du Soleil’s theatres in Las Vegas.

    The workshop is free however lodging and meals are not offered by the Casting team.

    This workshop is for you if: •You are at least 18 years old
    •Actively practice one of the disciplines above at a professional level
    •You are ready to adapt to new environments and group training styles
    •You are thinking about a career at Cirque du Soleil within the next few years.

    During the workshop you will: •Experience life as a Cirque du Soleil artist
    •Learn from the expertise of the resident show coaching team
    •Try out different acrobatic disciplines
    •Take part in artistic workshops focusing on acting and dance, turning athletes into artists
    •Meet existing artists, coaches and casting advisors to find out if a career at cirque is for you
    •See a Cirque du Soleil show!

    Interested? Then before sending your application, please prepare: 1.Your résumé/CV
    2.Headshot and full body shot
    3.Video excerpts of the following elements:
    •A video introduction where you state your name, background, specialty and your reasons for wanting to participate in the workshop (1 minute max)
