Alberto Del Rio fought a few times in Pride under the wrestling name Dos Caras Jr. But he also had a considerable Greco-Roman wrestling background, too.
It would seem that a well-known WWE or TNA pro wrestler transitioning into MMA has potentially a lot more to lose than someone without that background. Especially if they've carefully built up a persona/character over the years.
