Is the art of Monkey Kung Fu dying the in the USA? Doesn't seem to be alot of Schools dedicated to the art. Is there a directory somewhere like the seven star list.

I don't see that much traditional Monkey lately. I see a lot of Wushu monkey. Heck, you can't chuck a banana at a CMA tournament and not hit Wushu Monkey. :roll eyes:
I really hope we get some traditional Monkey at our new Monkey King Championships. It's a showcase division at TCEC, just for this year. I suspect it'll be mostly Wushu Monkey however...

Greetings,
A simple search makes me wonder, sometimes:
http://pauliezink.com/monkey-kung-fu/
mickey
He left Matsuda off his list of instructors . Funny Furtado never catches any grief over all the drama.
Greetings 9 Ring,
I was expecting some kind of response regarding Paulie Zink and/or his students. I did not think it would come from you. Are you here to sincerely find out info or to rant? What is the real purpose to your posting here?
mickey
Well Mickey if you read the original post it was a list of current money Kung fu schools in the Us. Also it seems there is a decline of the art. I'm sure your a master in the art and will show me the way.
Greetings 9 Ring,
I provided you with a list. Yes Matsuda's name is not on it. I could say more about who backpedaled first. It is not my business. As far as Furtado is concerned, he is not the only student on that list of Zink's who is not catching any drama, some of whom I have never heard of.
Good Luck in finding a school.
mickey
Oops! I forgot to show you the way. Contact Paulie Zink, directly.

Was traditional Monkey style KF ever widespread in the U.S.? I've never personally come across any Monkey style schools or practitioners. Of course, at a couple of the Ed Parker tournaments in the early '80s I saw Paulie Zink, but I don't know if that's really a traditional Monkey style or not. And about 13 years ago I saw Chan Sau-Chung guest demo at a Sacramento tournament, but AFAIK he has no students teaching in the States.
There are at least three schools in Ohio that teach Monkey Kung Fu and none of them are connected to Paulie Zink or Chan Sau Chung.
