US Open International Martial Arts Championships XII featuring K. Superstar World Fighting Championship-Art of War VII Extreme Sanshou and Shaolin Legacy Kungfu Show with Asian Cultural Festival on November 7th -9th, 2008.

5. Cung Le, the world number one “Asian American Legend Fighter” will be there to receive his highest Competitor Award and conduct seminars to all who love Kungfu Sanshou and MMA.
6. Patrick Barry, one of the best strikers in the US is the top K. Superstar to meet all the super heavy weight challengers who step into the ring. He will also give a strike seminar on Sunday.

United States of America Sanshou Kungfu Federation and LIU International in cooperation with the East West Cultural Exchange Foundation and Asian Community will host this event. The event will not only give every amateur Sanshou and light contact competitors a good platform to test their skills and their confidence of their self-protection abilities but some good fighting experience and training opportunities to improve their skills.
The event will indeed give all Kungfu, Tai Chi and other styles and choreographed team competitors a center stage to showcase their skills in various levels. We have over 200 categories to compete with: kids and teens Sanshou, light contact, weapons, traditional forms as well as team fighting and team group performance.
Art of War Extreme Sanshou will provide a platform where international fighters in Kungfu Sanshou, Muay Thai, Jiu Ji-Tsu or MMA meet to test their abilities to become the true warrior-K SUPERSTAR in the world. This Art of War Extreme Kungfu Sanshou encourages fighters from every background to challenge themselves and bring out the warrior within. At the end of the Art of War on Saturday night, only one K. SUPERSTAR fighter remains standing in the ring. The Shaolin Legacy Kungfu show on Sunday afternoon will certainly provide kids and families a great fun and exciting time you will never regret.
It is our goal to inspire and promote the best of the best in the martial arts world. The grand experience of this event is all summed up in its name, “EXTREME” and this event will be sure to impress all spectators. The event is organized by United States of America Sanshou Kungfu Federation, and sponsored by LIU International Shi Deru Shaolin Institute and hosted by the East West Cultural Exchange Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and Asian Community at large.

Asian Festival will present various cultural highlights and shows. 15 qualified modeling Kungfu girls will present their Kungfu athleticism, appearances, styles and classic postures between Art of War VII main event. Qi Gong
Saturday morning will be dedicated to the most popular Qi Gong in the world and one of the earliest exercises practiced by the Shaolin monks. The Eight Treasures (or Ba Duan Ji as it is known in China) is a series of gentle movements designed to dramatically improve health, increase energy and revitalize the body. Through a series of gentle movements and meditation techniques, the Eight Treasures Qi Gong stimulates the flow of Qi through the acupuncture points. The movements are simple but powerful and can be practiced by adults of all ages.
Kung Fu
On Saturday afternoon Shifu will cover the fundamentals of Shaolin Kung Fu which is the key to understanding the more advanced moves. You will also do traditional strength training techniques, cardiovascular training, and speed training designed to give your muscles explosive power, and to narrow your reaction time.
The so-called secret of the Shaolin arts is the combination of Qi Gong and Kung Fu together. On Sunday you will learn how to combine Qi Gong and Kung Fu together to discover the crucial percentage level as to how much internal training you should do and how much external, depending on your age and fitness level. You will progress with the Eight Treasures Form and learn how to link the five fundamental Shaolin stances together.

Tai chi focuses on the mind-body-spirit self-healing as a primary goal, and a positive side effect is self defense ability. Tai chi enables the small, old and weak to overcome the big, young and strong. How is this possible? It is not just from remaining cool, calm and relaxed under pressure, or even from knowing cool moves that you can execute. It is also from knowing exact points where a little force goes a long way.
Hour One is designed to put more mind in your body. The first 40 minutes will consist of Qigong guided, standing meditation based on Sin Tien Wuji Qigong, also known as brain and bone marrow washing. A five minute Bar Duan Gin stretch will relieve congestion that can accumulate in the joints while standing. Then 15 minutes of interactive, 2 person qigong, with synchronized breathing and light contact will segue students into tai chi and the middle session.
Hour Two will consist of warm ups, stretches and postures designed to open up qi channels, so the qi can be stored in the bones during part three. Blood will shoot to strategic areas to encourage new growth and healthy functioning. We will also target painful areas, such as knees, neck, shoulders, that little tight spot between the shoulder blades, etc … the trouble spots for most people. So bring your pain! Individual problems are addressed.
Hour Three is for any and all tai chi forms’ applications. Bring your questions! We will show you how many of the movements work in a series, the set up and the take down. We welcome sharing, and also encourage spontaneous style push hands in this last hour.
The price for the whole workshop is $50, or $20 per hour. Any portion may be taken separately.

Sound of the Ocean

The drums are back! U-Theatre's Sound of the Ocean is an internationally acclaimed performance that explores the natural wonder of water, from its simple beginning as raindrops to the powerful and majestic oceans. To take audiences on water's cyclical path, the artists use evocative drumming, martial arts, dance, tai chi and meditation.
Hailing from the Laochuan Mountains outside of Taipei, U-Theatre is created by Artistic Director Liu Ruo-Yu and Master Drummer Huang Chih-Chun. The sound of the letter 'U' from which the company takes its name is similar to that of the Chinese character that means 'superior' or 'excellent.' In ancient China, it also meant 'professional actor.' U-Theatre's philosophy embraces the Zen principle of balancing artistic skill with self-knowledge; the company seeks to elevate the quality of life and develop spiritual strength through the practice of modern theater.
Sound of the Ocean has been performed over 120 times around the world, including engagements at the Spain's Millenia Festival, the Sao Paulo Arts Festival, Singapore Arts Festival, Bergen International Festival, BITE:02 at the Barbican, London, Next Wave Festival (BAM) in New York and Chekhov International Theatre Festival in Moscow. It earned the Best of Show award at the Festival d'Avignon in 1998 and the Audience Choice award at the Biennale de la Danse in Lyon in 2000.
