Very rarely do you witness a Kung Fu artist use both hands to throw two simultaneous punches to attack or counter an opponent. Despite this rarity, such a practice of punching makes for a very compelling weapon. Typically, these punches are identical and aimed at a particular area on the body so the two punches can land together on the target area. Punching viciously with both hands used in unison can be mind-boggling for an opponent. Most often they are taken by complete surprise and astonished by this tactic. The individual delivering the simultaneous hand attack can damage more of the target area. Also, if one punch does not do the trick, there is a good second chance that the other will make solid contact with a vulnerable spot.
8. The Double Fist Straight Punch
The first of these vicious two-fisted techniques is the Double Fist Straight Punch. This straightforward forward punch application can double the force of an attack, and performing it is relatively simple. Make two tightly clenched fists and punch strongly in unison to the same target area.
This double punch can be used at vulnerable spots all over the body. The most prevalent areas it can be applied are to the forehead, eyes, temple, jaw, chin region, sides of the neck, chest, stomach, ribs, and kidneys. Wherever you direct the double fist straight punch, you are going to leave yourself open for a possible counterattack, so you must use good caution and move quickly when applying this technique. It is also important to keep your body in a solid punch stance to ensure that balance and explosive power transfer to both arms. Sharpen this technique by practicing on a heavy bag to get familiar with the feeling of blasting this punch into an opponent. While it may seem odd at first, once you get into the habit of punching format in this format, you will discover how valuable this tactic can be.
Technique: The Double-Fist Straight Punch is done by tightly clenching both fists and punching strongly in unison to the same target. This double punch can be used at vulnerable spots all over the body. When using this double punch, it’s important to keep your body in a solid punch stance to ensure balance and explosive power to transfer to both arms.
9. The C Punch
The next double blow technique creates a C pattern with your arms. Conveniently, it is referred to as the C Punch. Two simultaneous fore-fist punches are used in this attack. The first is a straight fore-fist punch aimed to an upstairs target area such as the face, and the second is an uppercut punch aimed to a lower area like the abdomen or groin. The high straight punch and low uppercut combine to make a C as you make contact.
To perform this double punch smoothly while also maintaining balance and cohesion, lean forward slightly. This will assist both of your attacking fists to land vertically into the center striking line of an opponent’s body from a solid punching position. Not only will you generate added power into your punches, but your timing sequence of hitting the targets simultaneously greatly improves.
Excellent target areas for this punch are the forehead-chest, nose-solar plexus, and chin-stomach zones. For a damaging street defense, target the neck-groin zone.
Technique: In the C-Punch, a high and straight forefist blow and low uppercut combine to make a C as you make contact. A slight forward lean will assist both attacking fists to land vertically into the center striking line of an opponent’s body from a solid punching position. Your timing sequence of hitting the target at the same time greatly improves as well.
10. The Double Uppercut Punch
The Double Uppercut Punch centers on using both fists in a simultaneous uppercut attack. This is a close-range attacking technique that may not have the variety of target zones to pick from like its straight fore-fist brother, but it is both creative and forceful. Timing this palm’s up blow just right to the chin can crush an opponent.
Keep your body erect and your front leg in a solid bent-knee stance to harness the devastating punching power that comes with this technique. While the chin is a very good target area for this punch, it also works well when drilled into the solar plexus or stomach. The practitioner can develop power and explosive precision in this technique by practicing the application on a heavy bag or specially made uppercut bag. If pinned against a wall or tight spot, use this punch to defend yourself. Remember to not only explode viciously into the target area but attempt to punch through it as well.
Technique: The Double Uppercut Punch is a unique technique that centers on using both fists in a simultaneous, uppercut attack. Timing is of utmost importance when mounting an attack with the Double Uppercut Punch. When targeted at the chin, this blow can really ward off an opponent. Keep your body erect and your front leg in a solid bent-knee stance to harness devastating punching power from the technique.
11. The Double Hammer-fist Punch
Much like the double uppercut technique, the Double Hammer-fist Punch can stun an opponent. As a headshot, the bottom of both fists can be used as two downward striking hammers to attack both the temple or chin areas. The ferocious impact created by this technique can knock an opponent unconscious or break a jaw. If you have a height advantage or an opponent attacks out of a low crouched stance, you can use this punch fist in an inward and down delivery to smash both sides of the collarbone. This type of downward pounding shot can disable the adversary from further advancement. Used in a downward path, it can also be used to smash the chest and solar plexus area. One of the best and most vulnerable areas to apply the laterally directed double hammer fist is the ribs. This crushing shot can take the wind out of an opponent, and badly bruise or crack a rib. While the double rib attack is a painful, disabling punch, smashing the two-fist hammer blow to the kidneys can be just as vicious.
Technique: One of the best and most vulnerable areas in which to apply the laterally directed Double Hammer-fist Punch is to the neck. This can be a crushing shot. On the streets, this blow can be used to shake up and take away the violent tendencies of an aggressive assailant.
Getting to the Punch
It is up to the martial artist to use discretion when applying any of these eleven vicious closed-fist punches. One must be smart and experienced enough to know when a certain variance of one of these punches can be used to stop an opponent without seriously hurting them. On the other side of the spectrum, each practitioner should have a well enough understanding of how to apply the blows viciously if their life or the life of a loved one is in serious danger. As a martial artist, one must respect others as they do themselves. Always use good judgment when applying a vicious closed-fist punch.
