MACHIA-DUDE, THE PRINCE

Xebsball
10-10-2003, 06:06 AM
no really, Ming,

its from Machiavelli's book
a very old school classic

it is so that there is the expression "machiavelic" (maquiavélico in portguese) to refer to people with... well that dudes attitude, mean, but real, and tough, and... MERCILESS and very scheeming

advice: (i'm sure you have been getting plenty of it!)
drink more water than you ever thought possible. Go for a gallon a day at least. Being well hydrated will help you peel off the weight. plus you burn off calories walking to the bathroom 10 times a day.

Was that at school or-? What do you exactly mean by "sweep"?

Kristoffer
10-11-2003, 08:35 AM
well, 3 hours training plus about 30 min warm ups/strecth etc...

Not at the club but in a rented space. (coz were so many) We always rent a space for our weekend courses (and usually we spend this time to train weapons. techs, form and application. But somethimes we might have breaking courses or Shuai Chiao courses etc.)

This term we have been focusing quite a bit on a part of the system called 'Ti Tan'. It's ground fighting. Not grappling, but crunched down techs like sweeps, kicks etc. Hard to explain but if you ever seen a monkey style, they look alike but without all bullsh*t. (always low stances, your legs take quite the punishment. The weapon we focused on today is long staff.

Sake (good sake) is waaaaaaaaaaaay more expensive

water is free (it comes out of the faucet)

I like the stable stances combined with the stick and hold techs. Getting my opponent (who is usually bigger than I am) off balance is a distinct advantage

I like the effectiveness of PM. It's fast and strong when done correctly. So far, everything about it works for me. It's been a smooth adjustment incorporating it into what I already know, (although I've just begun...) the footwork is similar to some of my long fist training, for example.

Yes. Drive safely.
I thought that article was very cool. A lot of good can come from that technology.
Honda robot baby sitting eh? Just teach your dog right. Dogs are good for keeping an eye on the kiddo while you cooking or something. I wouldnt trust either while I was gone however.

I don't want good throwing knives... if I get expensive ones, I'll have to chase down the guy I just stuck them into to get them back.
:D

I want cheap ones, and plenty of them.

"I want cheap ones, and plenty of them"
Eeeeh! *buzzer sound*

You go for expensive throwing knives because they are much better balanced, much easier for throwing. Most of the more expensive ones are also made of a solid piece of steel, instead of pieced together. (less chance of breakage)
Go to a knife store, play with a few, see which ones you like the feel of best.
I personally like throwing hatchets the best. Gives you that nice native american/davey crockette feeling.
:)
I really do plan on getting good with throwing spikes... Keep em under the sleeve for quick deadly throws. Fun fun.

I might be able to explain.
see sometimes things go beyond talent.
one has to surpass such trappings as "artistic vision"
and concentrate on finer things

the modern poet and thinker of the western world , an american intuitive Sean Combs once mused "It's all about the Benjamins baby."
indeed it is

all about those benjamins.

* i still wanna see kill bill, and i expect it to be cheesy , but fun..Duh!

d'oh, I hope I'll like it more than you do :)
This was actually the first thing that came to my mind when I heard of Kill Bill. I thought why the hell should he do a wannabe crouthing tiger hidden sausage movie? he's all about the money! Grrr... Then came the teaser trailer and I thought it looked like ****. All my homies were like ''oh wow she's great at Kung Fu!'' That's when I had to smack em for being ignorant of movie fu. Anyway I changed my mind about Kill Bill when I read the articles here on kfo. How big of a fan Tarantino is said to be. After that I'm really looking forward to it. But I don't expect good old Jackie Chan no wires top notch fighting scenes....... just something funny.
rant over

White Crane is another style I'd love to experience. Sparring a Preying Mantis practioner and a White Crane practioner is definatly a future goal :)

and i saw some adresses to some swedish KF schools, and they looked pretty good.
there was an article about a new combat arts centre in Malmö that looks like the place i train. multiple fighting arts under one roof.:)
theres also is a swedish Hung Kuen organization that has a branch in Stockholm, and they train traditional AND with modern equipment, and they spar realistically. it looked very good.
there were also this adress i found:
